Focuses on attracting the community through design.

ENGAGEMENT

The design proposes a concept that engages the community with the site in various aspects. The building programs are designed with respect to the landscape for an easy flow of activities. The meandering path interconnects different types of spaces for various purposes. The design intends to preserve existing trees at their places and thus, organizes the program around it. The water and walkway guide people to various spaces of the site. These spaces exhibit different spatial qualities depending on their purpose. The railings are not only used for securing perimeters but some also accomodate different functions such as storage, seating and food on fence. The beds along the street sides and green walls on the north facade are intended to advertise the Sankofa community's purpose of growing fresh produce, to bring more people in to the site.
